Where do our bags come from?

At Cosette, we offer a wide variety of products from street style to conservative, as we believe there should be options suiting everyone’s style. Cosette revolves around those 4 key points:

• Accessibility
• Authenticity
• Quality
• Fashionability

Following and taking into account the trends of the moment, we have new products arriving every 2-3 weeks to keep our customers happy, responding to their on-going demand.

…But where do our bags come from?

Being well aware of the difficulties Multi-Brand stores can encounter, we are thriving in always giving you certainty of the authenticity of what you buy. We are well aware of the massive gap there was between the styles you could find in big fashion capital cities and the ones available in Australia. As a result, our buying team is working hard and dedicating its time in sourcing the best of the best including in season, best-sellers, capsule collections and runaway items. All of our products are coming all the way from Europe, mostly from France and Italy, as we take advantage of the opposite seasons by complying with the Australian Parallel Import law.

Now well established within the local Australian market and in all the APAC region, we really pride ourselves with the origin of our products. Most of the time, the majority of our products are quite limited in quantity, but we love offering the ability to provide our customers with so many choices. We are pleased to announce that we are the official outlet for the Safilo group which englobes sunglasses brands such as Dior, Fendi or Givenchy -to name a few.

Being a Multi brand, and positioning ourselves as an affordable high end fashion retailer, we aim to bring to our clients the most genuine products as we believe luxury should have its place in everyone’s closet. Thus, we are strongly fighting against all sorts of fakes and other counterfeit items. Our recently acquired DFS license (Duty Free Store) means that all of our stock and suppliers undergo a thorough check by the Australian Border force itself.

Our best advice when getting a new designer bag is: if you don’t plan on getting your bag from the original store, you should get it from reputable resellers that have the ability to provide you with some authenticity papers from trusted third parties.

Renee Murden by Ren Pidgeon for COSETTE SS20 Campaign

Cosette has been working for a number of years with Artificial Intelligence system Entrupy that guarantees the authenticity of all of our products. When purchasing at Cosette, you are entitled to ask us to provide you with you own bag’s Entrupy certificate. As a result, you should never be left with any doubt and be certain of the provenance of any of your purchases.

We are always here to help answer your enquiries. Don’t hesitate to contact our lovely customer service or to meet our lovely staff in-store if you are based in Sydney and have any questions.

How to keep your bag in good condition?

Bonjour #Cosettegirls and other bag lovers!

Today we are going to talk about how to keep your bag and other leather goods in good condition. For those who have lots of bags to store -or simply for most of us who are currently in isolation, now is the right time to reorganise your shelves and closet following our Cosette Team’s advices.

I. Where to store my bag?

You want to store your bags preferably on a shelf or at the top of your closet, where it can breathe freely. It is extremely important for your bag not to be all ‘squashed’ and to give it the space it deserves. After all, designer bags are the A-list of our personal products. We don’t want the handles to get damaged. If your bag came in a box, that’s a great place to store it, but make sure the box is clean and free from humidity. Make sure the removable straps, handles or chains are removed and either stored separately or put in a little dustbag inside the bag.

II. How to store my bag?

Now that you have found the dedicated space for your bag(s), and made sure that it is not all squashed, let’s talk about the stuffing. Most of the time when you’ve purchased your bag through us, it will come with some stuffing already inside. We recommend you to keep this stuffing so when you are not using your bags, you can put it back inside, et voilà! However, if you didn’t keep the stuffing paper, don’t worry, we are here to help. You can simply fill your bag with some silk paper, a small cushion, some old sweat pants or some ink-free cotton tote bags. Make sure not to under-stuff or over-stuff your bag. If you have a structured bag like the Givenchy Antigona or the Celine Luggage, it is crucial to keep it stuffed so it doesn’t collapse when unused.

When you are done with the stuffing, simply protect it by putting it back inside its former dustbag.

III. How long can I store my bag for?

When you are finally done with step one and step two: you can store your bag(s) for as long as you want. Don’t forget to check on them from time to time to make sure they stay in good condition and dust-free. Make sure that your bag is not in direct contact with natural or synthetic lights as it can damage both the material and the colour, and that it stays in a decent room temperature.

via @fromluxewithlove

Finally, we don’t particularly recommend to put any specific product on the leather as sometimes too many chemicals in a product can lead to irreversible damage or stains. We are currently developing our own bag cleaning formula that should be available in the coming months. If you have any specific questions regarding your bag, feel free to contact us at info@cosette.com.au and we will guide you through the steps to keep your bag as new as it possible can!

Bisous bisous!

Thank you for another great year!

All the Cosette Team is wishing you a Happy New Year – and a Happy Lunar Year.

Let us just start by saying: “Thank you for another great year!”

In 2020 we look forward to continuing to bring you the most coveted fashion items, from bags, sunglasses, small leather goods or ready-to-wear – still at the best price.

While we will continue to offer you the all-time best-sellers like Saint Laurent Sac de jour or the Gucci Marmont, to name a few, we have bags full of new surprises and we’re so excited to show you what’s coming!

But for now, let’s highlight our favourite events of 2019

We opened a Pop-Up store in Martin Place to make it even easier to shop that it-bag to compliment any wardrobe or occasion for any season.

We became the Official Eyewear Outlet for the Safilo Group which gives us (and you) access to the latest season releases of Dior, Fendi and Givenchy Sunglasses (with the best price guarantee)

As part of our most recent ready-to-wear selection, we also brought you the newest See By Chloé for the first time at Cosette –  mixing classic aesthetics with modern floral prints.

Duty & Tax Free Shopping – Cosette The Rocks (DFS)

Our Flagship store in The Rocks now offers Duty Free Shopping! We are now officially accredited as one of only 4 Duty-Free off-airport stores in NSW – providing visiting customers an even greater shopping experience.

Just arrived: our own little Cosette #cosettegirls branded cotton tote bags you can use and reuse for your next purchases or simply rock with a casual look or at the beach -so we are always with you in the best moments!

We partnered with various stylists, influencers, and celebrities to perfect their red carpet looks or other important key events to attend with our bags collection so they could share it and inspire you for your own personal events, night outs or celebration parties.

On a more creative side: Our first Cosette SS20 photoshoot campaign was a massive success with model Renee Murden photographed by talented Ren Pidgeon from DLM Australia agency with H&MU perfected by Helen Samaryan. It definitely reinforced our branding, but more importantly our connection with you all.

The launch of our #CosetteGirls hashtag stands for: the effortless style of the Australian fashionista rocking a Parisian elegance. It unquestionably brought us closer to you.

Still with the hashtags: Our #CosetteChristmas, last event of the year hosted in our flagship store in Sydney. We celebrated in music -and in style- with Laurent-Perrier Champagne, Santa Vittoria water, Petaluma wines, The Blonde Butler macarons, Hermetica flower wall, all presented together by our lovely Portobello PR.

Finally, we have widened our range of brands we carry, carefully selected by our picky but always on-trend buyers following or based on all of your personal requests.

We also have a whole new selection of basics/timeless Ready-To-Wear made from the finest materials that will be dropped and available in our stores in the coming months! So stay tuned. But Shhhh! It’s a secret…

As you can see, you can trust that for 2020 we are aiming for more, for better, and we will do everything to make your wishlist dreams come true!

Cheers to a new decade! All in style, Cosette style.

Why we love Saint Laurent (and why you do too)

At Cosette, we have noticed that not one of our customers have ever said ‘I don’t like Saint Laurent’. When asked about the French Maison de Luxe, our clients all use the same words to describe it: timeless, iconic and chic. In French we would say ‘Intemporel’.

Every good bag connoisseur can name at least a few Saint Laurent bags – Kate, Sunset, Sac de Jour, Vicky, Loulou to name a few… and any bag lover can recognise a Saint Laurent bag within others.

Whether you’re looking for a work-, day-, travel-, casual- or evening bag, Saint Laurent plays with a variety of neutral and timeless colours -proper to the brand and chooses within different types of fabrics or leathers such as smooth, grained, shiny, patent, soft or grain de poudre to suit every style but still honouring their original and proper branding with its unique topstitching signature and quilting details, signature black aesthetic, and metallic YSL logo hardware.

Indeed, Saint Laurent is never too over-the-top, nor it is too discreet. Like any recipe for success overtime, everything is based on the right dosage. Thus, it is the right combination of hardware, fine leather and topstitches that makes the Maison so unique and an all-time favourite within us all Amoureux de la mode.

Renowned for its audace, its famous rock’n’roll with-a-twist touch and perfecting everything by adding some boyish shapes, La Maison Saint Laurent is in a never-ending process of reinventing its classics and turning them into it-bags. Is the secret hidden in its simplicity or extravagance? The House’s ability to always twisting 1980’s inspired shapes with modern aesthetics is probably why it never ceased staying trendy decades after decades by Monsieur Saint-Laurent’s successors.

Yves Saint Laurent was the pioneer in using exotic skins and leathers in his design process, but the secret was also hidden in his individuality in using innovative materials. Patrick Mauries, author of the book Yves Saint Laurent accessories says:

“Metal chains, which Saint Laurent had often used in his early years for necklaces and belts, were repurposed to serve as shoulder straps. Processes and techniques were adapted to achieve whatever the current theme demanded: leather could be studded (on both shoulder straps and the body of a bag), perforated, cut, pierced (allowing one colour to show through another), laced (rather than stitched), dotted with cabochons made of resin, or pieced together from lozenge-shaped sections or other patchwork.”.

@paigecraswell featuring the Saint Laurent Kate bag from Cosette

Yves Saint-Laurent himself was not only a man who put women into pant suits, he also was passionate about his own idea of fashion to create something that has never been done by its predecessors. His innovative mind gave birth to what we could also refer as a fashion movement making his creations reinforced over time as the creative direction was being taken over by the talented Hedi Slimane and more recently Anthony Vacarello, both possessing the strong ability to create contemporary reincarnations of Yves’s creations.

While the work behind every Saint Laurent bag goes way back, there is no doubt the Saint-Laurent Fashion House will keep surprising us with its unconventional yet so-lovable bags creations. In addition, there is no doubt we will keep admiring their collections as the designers pass on the torch, and we will keep doing our best to provide you with all of your favourite and iconic Saint-Laurent Staple pieces.

Head to our website TODAY to shop all the latest arrivals and make a purchase that is in the continuity of a great French Fashion House history.

Until next time/A bientôt!

Fendi Maniac

It all starts at the Fall/Winter 2018-19 Women’s Fashion Show on Milan’s catwalk where Fendi unveils FENDI MANIA collab, a creative logo mashup designed by Instagram artist @hey_reilly. Ever since, we cannot get enough of these remixed classics.

FENDIMANIA Official Campaign 2018/19

“Previously unbridgeable divides between high and low, sport and soigné, tasteful and not, have all but disappeared.” (ELLE)

For those who might have been hidden in a cave for the last months, FENDI MANIA is a legendary capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for men, women, and children between the fashion powerhouse Fendi and the Italian heritage sportswear brand Fila (OMG Eighties I love you).

Fila and Fendi remix their logo, exploring Fashion’s old love affair with loud and big branded things while blending two opposing elements: high-end fashion and everyday sportwear.

“It’s like when you wear sneakers with a tuxedo, because it’s today’s life. There are no borders anymore. FENDI MANIA enjoys the freedom to poke fun at fashion and fancy ideas.”says Fendi’s creative director Sylvia Venturini Fendi.

Yes, it does feel incredibly amazing to inject some insouciance in our closet. This one-of-a-kind collection is our new way of saying “forever young” throughout a beautiful and extensive range of T-shirts, tops, flowing gowns, puffer coasts, footwear, bags and so many more playful key pieces.

How artist “Hey Reilly” created a logo mashup that went from brandalising virtual image to real.

It apparently all started from an Instagram DM after the artist had posted his now-famous-FendiMania-Lady-Liberty.

Hey Reilly

I absolutely adore this logo fusion! Built on the one of the most iconic logo (“FF”), I find, from a creative point of view, the Fila x Fendi logo artistically powerful, setting standards high and imagery more impactful than ever.

A touch of Givenchy please

I am oh-so thrilled to have Le Sac GV3 on our Cosette shelves. Not only that I adore this bag for its wonderful character, I find its history absolutely fascinating. One-of-a-kind Givenchy handbag that embodies the duality that runs through the house.

It is so special that our buying team was able to put their hands on it, bringing it to our doors at the very best price Australia wide.Givenchy-GV3-Small-Bag-Black-Gold

Unique savoir-faire behind the GV3

Taking its name from the initials of the Maison’s address on the Avenue George V, Paris, number 3, the GV3 marks a unique moment in the brand’s history as the first handbag in a new collection from creative director Clare Waight Keller (previously Chloé house creative director).

Loyal to the Givenchy legacy, sophisticated yet practical, the GV3 is a flap shoulder handbag, composed of 2 separate halves as a whole, closing with the most iconic Double G “kissing clasp”. I remember seeing it as a little girl on my grannie’s Givenchy make-up powder and the fact that Waight Keller has revived it as a signature hardware is bold, meaningful and very brand iconic.

To me, the GV3 is paying homage to the past with today’s aesthetic for clean lines. And that is deeply beautiful.

Tactile materials of the highest quality

I’ve always had a thing for structured frame, well-designed shoulder bags as well as for soft, quilted leather – both synonym of true elegance.

Made in Italy with shiny goatskin chosen for its natural sleek grain, the GV3 pairs it with matt lambskin, with a “Tamponato” finish, which gives more depth to the natural leather character.

Entirely assembled by hand, every stiches and raw seam are hand-painted for the most impeccable finish. A piece of art.

Playful & versatile

Last but not least, the GV3 offers endless ways to wear, let’s be creative ladies – it is time to have fun styling this beauty. Both its removable dual chain and leather shoulder strap allow 4 easy and very different looks to play with, whether you’d like to dress it up or down.

Feature-wise, the GV3 comes in 4 different sizes (Nano to Medium), the Small size being the main brand focus and the Nano designed to be worn as a belt. The Small Flap version has a superbly organised interior, with multiple compartments, pockets and gusset – we love!

Spotted as Meghan Markle favourite’s bag, the GV3 got everything of lady can dream of: beauty, history and timeless elegance.

Take a look at the GV3 styles currently available in our 2 boutiques and our online store – you won’t find any better deal 🙂

Step up your style game with badass frames

As Cosette recently became the official reseller of Dior, Fendi and Givenchy sunglasses in Australia and Pacific Asia, I am thrilled to share with you some of our favourite styles.

Sunglasses are a fun and easy way to step up your fashion game. From sunny rooftop drinks to afternoon wondering in the park, there’s a great pair for every situation, ensuring you’ll have 100% UV protection.

Glam Cat Eye

I absolutely adore the Dior Nebula in Copper Gold for its modern cat eye shaped frame. Inspired by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior, the graphic double bridge will add an elegant and feminine look to any of your urban outfit.

Logo Splurge

Step outside the box and be sure to turn heads wearing the fantastique Fendi FF signature sunglasses. The all-over logo has been trending hard and still, we cannot get enough of it. Made in Italy, the Fendi FF has gone wild and chic with this statement frame – edgy and contemporary – they are the subtle version of an all-over monogram, same impact guarantee.

Aviator Love

Fact: Aviator sunglasses, also known as “pilot’s glasses” were originally developed in 1936, for pilots to protect their eyes while flying. Since then, I believe this is probably the most-loved style around the world. Worn by Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, they’re an eyewear statement our wardrobe could not miss.

I am so in love with Givenchy GV line, adorned with white metallic stars, they’re a great option for a chic & rock look. Poolside flying here we go!

Why your bag needs a regular care regimen and how to start one

I am so excited to be doing a post on luxury-item-care today because I truly think this is often missed. If you’ve been following us for a while, then you probably know how much we love handbags.

If you’re owning a few designer pieces and wish to keep them for as long as possible, while making the most of your investment, read on for my tips bellow.

Why caring after your luxury goods is so important?

I believe most of us know we should look after our designer wardrobe but struggle to implement it in our daily lives. Taking good care of your items will lead to greater satisfaction wearing them, looking fresh and beautiful, they’ll reflect positively on yourself.

An item well maintained is an item that will wear well, getting even more beautiful as it ages, gaining in character and personality; following you through the years, building momentum and gorgeous history.

How to know what’s best for your item?

It might be very confusing and hard knowing what care requires a specific item – whether it is made with leather, exotic skin, luxurious fabric or a specific colouring.

Figure out the best products to use referring to experts – never ever try a product before being 100% certain this is suitable to your item.

Keep them organised

The more organised they are, the easier it will be to look after them.

I like keeping some of my shoe boxes for best wardrobe-looking-results and place most of my bags in their protective pouches to prevent from dust and sunlight.

Organising them per colour and season is also very helpful when it comes to styling your outfits. It will limit any risk of messy-wardrobe-alert, related to the classic “I have nothing to wear” panic attack.

I also recommend allocating a dedicated space in your wardrobe for designer bags, shoes, clothing and accessories.

DSC09852

Keep them clean and ready to wear

You will find great joy and satisfaction in having all your items spotless and ready to wear, vs a dry-clean pile giving you anxiety each time you look at it.

Don’t over-use / over-load them

Most of us think that because they’re luxury items, they are some kind of unbreakable item but this is actually the opposite: they are fragile, mostly handcrafted out of the most delicate leather or fabric.

If you’re lucky enough to own different handbags: rotate them and try not to wear always the same, especially on a day to day basis.

Last but not least, be mindful of what you place in them. I know this is tempting to carry our all house around, but on this chapter, remember that less is more 😉
